MATCH of the day in Division One of the Craven League definitely came at Wilsden.

The home side made 168, despite leg-spinner Tom Fothergill taking 6-37, and the latter was then involved in the thrilling conclusion in Oakworth’s chase.

The visitors looked in charge when the score was 121-3, and even more so at 155-5, but four wickets then fell for 13 runs, leaving the game on a knife-edge.

But Fothergill then hit Ben Mitchell for a boundary to give Oakworth a one-wicket victory midway through the 34th over.

Contributions with the bat from Oakworth came from Joel Gallagher (32), Jake Keslinke (30), Jack Davison (21) and Jordan Powell (27).

And there was more good news for Oakworth afterwards as leaders Bingley Congs’ surprise defeat to Hepworth & Idle left them just a point in front of Oakworth on 120.

Haworth went above Denholme in mid-table, defeating them by six wickets at Keighley Road.

Sent in, the home side could only muster 73 as Damian Rowell took 4-30, Ollie Bishop 3-22 and overseas signing Ethan Gouws 2-21.

Haworth, now fifth with 93 points, won by six wickets at the end of the 25th over, with Jamie Rowell (26no) seeing them home after fellow opener James Roper had made 25.

Cowling lost by six wickets at Gargrave, scoring only 89 after winning the toss on a day when many sides struggled to reach three figures.

Mohammed Shah Usman (40) dominated Cowling’s innings, but received little support, apart from Rahman Ali (25), and Naqi Hassan’s 3-27 for them was rather a footnote as Gargrave went third.

There was better news for Ingrow, whose second win of the season kept them just above the relegation places.

Sent in at Sutton, they scored 126, Atif Malik (29) and Shahid Ajmal (29) putting on 42 for the second wicket.

Ben Middleton (3-26) and Alistair Wallace (4-18) were in the wickets for cellar dwellers Sutton, who were castled for 70, with only three men in double figures as Malik took 4-28 and Ajmal 3-11.

In Division Two, Riddlesden stretched their lead to 28 points by winning their top-of-the-table clash against Eldwick & Gilstead.

Opting to bat, the Keighley side made 171, with keeper Naveed Hussain top-scoring with 38, aided by Aftab Khan (28) and Arfan Mahmood (20no).

No-one in the E&G side managed more than 21 as they were dismissed for 113, with Khan bagging 4-21.

Glusburn are now just a point behind E&G in third after winning a ball-dominated contest at Skipton CI.

The visitors were 80-7 but managed to post a score of 133, thanks to keeper James Tillotson (28no).

CI were then rolled over for 52 by Irfan Khaliq (5-14) and Tamoor Munir (3-0).

Silsden are also in the promotion picture, being only seven points behind E&G in fourth after a decent contest at Foulridge.

The Cobbydalers won the toss and made 214, with opener Rob Jones (66) and No. 10 Joshua Waind (53) topping and tailing their efforts.

Lewis Middleton (19no) gave Waind support in a ninth-wicket partnership of 82, and the wickets were shared after tea as Foulridge replied with 184-9, Middleton taking 4-52.

Bradley’s decision to bat misfired big time at home to Long Lee as they were skittled for 32, with only the redoubtable Toby Meynell (12) reaching double figures as Moin Ahsan (3-17) and Jamil Muhammad (6-15) caused carnage.

However, Long Lee lost six wickets in passing that small target, Meynell taking 5-13 as the Keighley side moved within two points of their opponents.

Airedale were not happy with the state of the Sandy Lane wicket after their two-wicket defeat to Bradford & Bingley III.

The visitors could only make 83, and Chris Gill scored 44 of those, before Bingley replied with 89-8, Josh Coppack taking 3-27 and Scott Whittam-Ritchie 3-15.

Cononley were one of the few sides to top 200, making 205 after winning the toss at home to Wilsden II in Division Three.

Tom Feather (58), skipper Nathan Parker (38) and Harry Parker (38) led the way, contributing to two half-century stands, and Feather (4-28) and Willie Naylor (3-24) then restricted the visitors to 132.

That leaves Cononley in second place, but Oakworth II are pushing them hard after an eight-wicket home success over Gargrave II.

Noman Hassan (4-25) and Akeel Umar (2-6) were in the wickets as the visitors were toppled for 59, Rob Gumbley (31no) seeing the hosts home in style.

Denholme II ensured that it was not a Haworth double on the day, defeating them by 24 runs at West Lane.

Zahid Bashir (35) and Ben Burkill (34) added 62 for the second wicket in Denholme’s 150-6, with Mick Hawkes taking 3-19 and Tom Rowell 2-17.

Haworth were 43-7, but even with the efforts of captain and keeper Paul Stephens (39) and Rowell (33), who added 54 for the eighth wicket, they could only get up to 126 as Zac Wheatley took 4-19.

Cowling II did not detain leaders Thornton-in-Craven for very long at Keighley Road, being dismissed for 74 (Martyn Dalby 44) before losing by nine wickets, but they are still above Denholme II and Long Lee II.

Daniel Kernan took 4-59 for Long Lee II in Skipton CI II’s 243-8 before being dismissed for 94, of which Ben Pennington scored 21.

In Division Four, Oakworth III were no match for Bingley Congs III in a top-of-the-table clash that was played at Lawkholme Lane.

Oakworth used seven bowlers in Congs’ 197 before being sent back for 102, despite Sultan Khan (26) and Amin Khan (36).

It seems that the promoted sides will come from the top five, and Oakworth II, Airedale II, Ingrow II and Keighley III occupy places two to five.

Ingrow won a low-scoring affair at home to Hepworth & Idle III, with Simon Bolton (37) and Daniel O’Connor (27) leading the way in Ingrow’s 114 after they were sent in.

Hepworth & Idle then had no answer to Tony Hodgson (4-17) and Adam Hussain (3-11) as they were back in the pavilion for 71.

Glusburn II are off the mark, and how, after scoring 300-7 at home to Sutton II.

Tahir Mehmood (58), Theo Ray (47), skipper Mark Pickles (37) and keeper Richard Parkin (91no) were the leading lights in Glusburn’s run-fest as Ben Seward took 3-90 and Josh Franklin 3-43.

Sutton, who won the toss, replied with 150-5, of which Jack Middleton made 42 not out, Phil Edwards 38 and Tom Simpson 23 not out.
