AN England rugby star has expressed her pride in her younger brother making his debut in England shirt at the weekend.

Sam Kildunne, the younger brother of Keighley's Ellie Kildunne (pictured), was selected for the England Rugby Sevens squad in Zagreb at the weekend.

Ellie tweeted: "Proud big sister moment… "Can’t wait to see my not so little brother in an England shirt this weekend- always known you’d shine, it’s now your time ."

England Men's Sevens Men’s head coach Tony Roques named a squad formed of a mix of Premiership, university and core contracted sevens players.

Sam, who currently plays for Loughborough Students, was one of several new players to be handed their first cap for England.

Prior to the Saturday and Sunday's games, Roques said : “We as a staff and player group are looking forward to heading to Zagreb. We are pleased to be able to give so many players their England sevens debuts. They have all trained very well and deserve this opportunity.

"Pulling on an England shirt is always a special moment and it’s great to further strengthen links between clubs, universities and ourselves. We are looking forward to seeing how this group go over the weekend.”

England played well winning all of their Pool C matches on Saturday against Luxembourg, Sweden and Bulgaria.

They beat Romania 19-10 in the quarter-finals on Sunday, won 28-12 against Wales in the semi-finals before being shut out by Ireland 27-0 in the Sevens final on Sunday.
