SILSDEN won a thrilling game at Frickley Athletic on Tuesday night, as Cody Cromack’s 89th-minute screamer sealed a 3-2 away victory.
The result puts the Cobbydalers up to fourth in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division ahead of their home game against fellow fast-starters Golcar United on Saturday.
It was a great way for Silsden to bounce back following their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Barton Town at the weekend.
Silsden made a brighter start than their hosts in midweek and took a deserved early lead through Kayle Price’s header.
The rest of the first half was end-to-end, with big Silsden defender Harry Coates coming closest to scoring, but the score remained 1-0 at the interval.
Casey Stewart latched on to a flick on to put the Cobbydalers 2-0 up early in the second half, but Frickley quickly hit back, as Charlie Clegg side-footed home a good cross from the right.
And the home side levelled when Coates inadvertently headed a cross into his own net as goalkeeper Callum Bradbury came to claim it.
Frickley stopped Adam Hewitson made good late saves from Price and Stewart but he could do nothing about Cromack’s last-gasp goal.
The midfielder fizzed in a brilliant strike from the edge of the box which flashed past the keeper and won the game for Silsden.
