Keighley Town have appointed James Gill as their new first-team manager.
Town sit bottom of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, which led to the departure of Des Hazel earlier this month.
Gill has arrived from nearby Steeton, where he worked as Roy Mason’s assistant manager gaining valuable experience within the local semi-professional game.
He now takes the next step in his coaching career by taking charge at Cougar Park, with non-league stalwarts likes of Ross Daly and Aidan Chippendale having joined since his appointment.
Gill told the club website: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as the new first team manager of Keighley Town.
“This is an exciting opportunity for me and one that I simply could not turn down.
“From my first conversations with the club, it was clear there is real ambition here, and I am eager to get started.
“Keighley is a town that deserves a football team its community can be proud of and come together to support.
“Just as importantly, young aspiring footballers deserve a pathway into semi-professional football and beyond, and I believe this club can provide that opportunity.
“I have no illusions about the task ahead. There will be challenges along the way, but I am confident that with hard work, commitment and togetherness, we can move this club forward.
“I would ask all supporters to get behind the team as we look to climb the table and build something everyone can be proud of.
“It would be fantastic to see big crowds at Cougar Park this season. Your support can make a huge difference, and together we can make the ground a real fortress and provide that all-important 12th man for the players.
“Finally, I would like to place on record my thanks to Roy Mason and everyone at Steeton for the opportunity they gave me during my time as assistant manager.
“Although it was a short spell, I thoroughly enjoyed it and wish Roy, the players and everyone connected with the club the very best for the season ahead and beyond.”
Gill’s first game in charge came on Saturday, with Town losing 3-0 at home to Penistone Church.
Up in the Northern Premier League East Division, Silsden let a one-goal lead slip to lose 2-1 at North Ferriby.
And there was knockout success for Barnoldswick Town, who won 3-1 at home to AFC Blackpool in the Macron Cup first round.
