It has been a good week for two of Keighley’s most promising youngsters.

Jonny Wilkinson is among four JCT600 Bradford League players to have been selected for Yorkshire Under-19s to face Middlesex in a two-day game at Undercliffe today and tomorrow (11am-6pm, 102 overs per day).

The other three are Jack Hartley (Bradford & Bingley), Andy Gorrod (Lightcliffe) and Ben Elvidge (Yeadon).

Meanwhile, Freddie Pearson played the key innings for Keighley first team as they cruised to a seven-wicket victory at home to Great Horton.

The young opener shared stands of 72 with Imran Patel (32) and 87 with Wilkinson (34no) as the hosts had no problem in knocking off the Bradford side’s 182 all out total.

Tom Stead was Keighley’s chief wicket-taker with 3-66 but good support came from across the board as wickets were shared around.

Mohammed Said (67) and Sadaqat Zaman (38) were Great Horton’s top performers.

Keighley are at home to Division Two bottom side Brighouse on Saturday.
