Menston u-18s 0 Steeton u-18s 4

STEETON'S young guns returned to action with a fine performance in a match played at Otley.

Missing usual keeper Elliot Wilson, Jack McCormack and Harrison Houldsworth filled the void with a half each in goal as they both kept clean sheets.

The game was just eight minutes old when Matty Griffiths got Steeton off the mark, showing great determination to out-jump a defender and loop a header over the stranded keeper.

Another header put Steeton two up after 30 minutes. Harry Farnell floated a lovely ball over the defence and Kaisar Ali climbed above his marker to plant the ball in the bottom left-hand corner of the net with a neat header.

On 37 minutes Jordan Daniels was next on the scoresheet when Tom Ormerod played the ball out from defence to Daniels 25 yards from goal. He turned and drove the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of the net to give the visitors a 3-0 half-time lead.

Lee Harwood replaced Griffiths on the right of midfield to start the second half and showed his intentions straight away when he used his speed and strength to make inroads into Menston's defence but was thwarted by a last-ditch tackle.

Will Kaye and Harry Farnell continued to play probing passes. It looked like the latter had set up a goal when his pass through found Daniels on the run but he delayed just enough to let defenders back and put him under pressure, forcing him to shoot wide.

There was a few goal mouth scrambles with Menston riding their luck and occasionally looking to catch Steetons defence out with a counter attack but

McCormack, Ormerod Hussain and Jacob Bryceland dealt fairly well with fleeting attacks at the other end before Dominic Westcott scored Steeton's fourth goal following a goalmouth scramble.
