JANET Clark admits she was "over the moon" at the amount of money donated for charity during her term as lady captain at Keighley Golf Club.
When a representative from Candlelighters came to collect a cheque for £2,192.43, she was surprised at just how much had been raised by various events throughout the year.
Janet said her chosen charity – which supports families in Yorkshire facing children's cancer – became close to her heart.
She said: "The reason I chose Candlelighters is because I had to nurse and look after my husband and I know the challenges that brings to nurse somebody with an awful illness.
"I just couldn't imagine doing that when it's a child. I went along to them and spent the morning with them, looking at what they do and at the ward. It was clear in my mind it was them who I wanted to help."
Her fund-raising events during the year included a music and song evening and a fashion show, while raffles were held with prizes donated by local companies. She also organised a golf competition in which all entry fees were added to her grand total.
Janet enjoyed a busy year on the course, playing a lot of competitive matches and reducing her handicap from 14 to 12.
