A LOT of people from all political persuasions – and none – will be shocked and deeply saddened at the death of Gary Waller.
He became a familiar and instantly-identifiable figure across the Keighley and Ilkley Parliamentary constituency during his 14 years as MP, attending countless events and functions.
His physical stature may not have been huge, but he had a massive passion for the area and its people and was dedicated to bringing about improvement.
And put simply, he was a really likeable guy.
Mr Waller was still active in politics, as a councillor in Epping Forest.
He will be fondly remembered and our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends at this sad time.
