REGARDING the 'unneeded free school should be axed' claim, one wonders what self-interest there might be for not wanting something new in the town!

With regard to the statement that local sixth-forms would need to close in order to fill the new facility, brilliant – let these young people go on to college and not back to school. Room can then be created so that local children may go to local schools, instead of travelling to places outside the area.

When I had children they all went to the local school. I speak to people nowadays and they talk of trying to work and get the children across to two different schools. It all seems to me like a nightmare and could be resolved with a shuffle!

Give the teenagers a place where they can be adults, and make the schools big enough for all the local children to go to their nearest school of choice!
