Musical Singin’ in the Rain comes to Bradford Alhambra after its sell-out season in London’s West End.

The critically-acclaimed Chichester Festival Theatre production stars Coronation Street actress Vicky Binns in one of the leading roles.

The show is set in the early days of cinema, when silent movies were threatened by the arrival of ‘talkies’ and the studios struggled to innovate.

Dashing leading man Don Lockwood soon realises his long-time co-star, Lina Lamont, won’t be suitable for a speaking role in the studio’s next movie. But he has more on his mind – a chorus girl with the dream of stardom who might just have captured his heart.

Maxwell Caulfield, who has starred in Emmerdale, Casualty and Dynasty, plays the studio boss RF Simpson, while Vicky Binns plays Lina Lamont. Vicky said: “I was blown away when I saw this production in London, so it’s a thrill to bring it straight from the West End to Bradford.”

The Chichester Festival Theatre production opened in summer 2011 and was extended due to public demand, transferring to the West End where it gained four Olivier Award nominations.

Singin’ in the Rain runs from September 2-13. Visit bradford-theatres.co.uk or call 01274 432000.
