SKIPTON Little Theatre is to present a dramatised reading of Sonia Waterfall’s book A Trip To Auschwitz.
The book tells the tragic tale of Sonia’s mother Ilsa’s escape from Nazi having occupied Austria to the UK, the death of her great-grandmother Gisela in a concentration camp in Latvia, and the death of her grandmother, Hulda.
The book was inspired by a secret cache of letters by Ilsa, known locally as Frankie, but which were only found when the family home was being cleared.
Sonia will sign copies of the book at WHSmith in Sheep Street, Skipton, today from 5pm to 6.30pm and a dramatisation of the story will be stage at Skipton Little Theatre tomorrow and Saturday at &.30pm.
Entry is free, but donations to the Red Cross would be welcome.
