THE SQUARE Chapel in Halifax has promised a fantastic line-up of shows to lead audiences through December and into the festive period.

The theatre promises a slapstick-filled Christmas show in the shape of The Wild Adventures Of Robin Hood.

The show comes from Sticks Theatre, the team behind last year’s popular The Hunt For The Scroobious Pip.

Three multi-talented performers bring to life the story of Robin Hood as you’ve never seen it before, from December 16 to 24.

There’s more family entertainment in store this Sunday at 2.30pm with the enchanting Hans Christian Andersen’s tale, Princess and the Pea.

From writer Mike Kenny and the inventive Tutti-Frutti team, the fantastical adaptation is described as beautiful and magical. It is suitable for children age three to seven, and lasts 55 minutes.

Music fans can enjoy BBC award-winning fiddle player Tom McConville and Scottish guitar virtuoso Andy Watt tonight.

There’s the breathtaking Belshazzar’s Feast on December 14, featuring Paul Sartin from Bellowhead and Paul Hutchinson from Hoover The Dog, playing traditional folk music with classical, jazz and wry comedy.

One of Britain’s most important chamber music ensembles, the Orlando Consort, perform Music and Feasting in Renaissance Europe – a grand celebration of medieval music – tomorrow.

Saturday sees Halifax Concert Band playing A Christmas Festival, then on December 13 there are the York Waits Christmas Concerts at both noon and 7.30pm.

Also at the Square Chapel: WordPlay with poetry, music, spoken word and storytelling (December 11); mountaineer Doug Scott (December 10), and comedy duo LipService with Brontë-themed The Hysterical The Historical (December 12).
