There are very few on the scene that can compare to Mariah Carey’s vocal prowess. The lady can sing.
So it becomes a question of what she’s signing, and Memories of an Imperfect Angel is just that: imperfect. A first listen through of the album is forgettable, with no tracks emerging as clear hits.
Second time through, and things are a little different. Tracks “Obsessed” and “H.A.T.E.U.” begin to hook with their catchy back-beat, while the ballad “Angels Cry” is possibly the best ballad Mariah Carey has sung in years.
Not even close to albums Butterfly or The Emancipation of Mimi, but still not bad by any means, it gets better with every listen.
