Love is back in the air in Laycock thanks to singer Steve White.

He has returned to the Village Hall to perform romantic classics every Sunday from 2-5pm. (From November 15) People can take drinks and listen to songs by the likes of Lionel Richie, Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble.

Steve opened his Love Songs Live Club last month (October) to stop while the hole was being refurbished.

Steve, real name Steve Ellison, aims to offer nostalgic concerts with jazz, swing and soul.

He grew up in Long Lee and has performed solo and in groups since the age of 16.

He now sings for weddings and private functions across the North of England and admits he loves the old "standards".

He said: "Hopefully the audience will be made up of like-minded people who want to sit and listen to more imaginative songs than those in the local working men's club or pub.

"Each table is decked out in white lace and a candle in an effort to bring back that era of elegance when people wanted to go out and be entertained and feel a little special.

"It's also about making time for each other. In these worrying times it's easy to forget!"

Steve stressed that people who like to talk while a singer performs will not be welcome.
