A Silsden councillor was this week finalising plans for a children’s contest aimed at targeting dog fouling in the town.
Adrian Naylor was due to talk with staff at Aire View Infants School about a competition to design anti-fouling posters.
Winning entries will be attached to six new bins Coun Naylor has offered to buy with his Bradford Council ward budget.
Coun Naylor, who is also a Silsden town councillor, said at least one of the bins would be outside the Elliott Street school.
He added: “I’ve spoken to the head and she’s enthusiastic about the competition. The issue is there aren’t any bins outside Aire View.”
Coun Naylor contacted the school following complaints from townspeople and visitors about an apparent increase in dog fouling around Silsden.
Town councillors plan a campaign to educate people to clear up after their dog and put the bagged mess in a bin.
Parents and childminders, angered by dog dirt outside Aire View and Hothfield schools, recently put up posters at town blackspots.
