Cowling’s Andrew Ogden has every reason to feel bullish.
His British Blue-cross bull calf took the championship title at the CCM Skipton May rearing calves show.
The four-week-old is by another former Skipton British Blue champion, Towngate Fly, which was bought by Mr Ogden, of Sandyforth Farm, a year ago.
His title-winning calf sold for £500 to Nigel and Maria Mason, from North Lincolnshire.
And father and sons Clarence, David and Michael Smith, of Bent Farm, Sutton, showed the second prize and reserve champion British Blue-cross bull calf, which went on to achieve the day’s top price of £545.
Another Sutton-based show regular, Richard Spence, also enjoyed success, presenting two first-prize-winning and top price Continental and native breed bull calves.
