A trio of women has taken the plunge to raise cash for Manorlands.

Victoria Butterfield, from Newsholme, leapt from a plane at 14,000 feet in a tandem skydive and her sponsored effort, at Grange-over-Sands, coined in £710.

“It was amazing and I loved every minute of it,” she said.

“It’s such a breathtaking and exhilarating experience.

“Thank you to everyone who sponsored me, which enabled me to jump for such a worthy cause.

“I would definitely do it all over again and would highly recommend it to others.”

Meanwhile 18-year-old friends Rachel Hargreaves and Rebecca Barrett, from Sutton, took part in a sponsored leap together at the Black Knights Parachute Centre in Lancaster.

Their parachute jump had been postponed first time round due to the weather. And they had to wait about six hours on the rescheduled date for the conditions to be right.

Rachel said: “We were in the plane for a matter of minutes and then we were out and falling through the air. The experience was both terrifying and amazing!”

Rebecca said: “We had prepared ourselves not to do it as the weather was bad, but once we were in the plane it all became real. It was a great challenge to take on for such an amazing cause.”

Together their efforts raised around £1,700.
