Oxenhope community organisations are receiving a funding boost following a meeting to involve the village in deciding how public cash should be spent.
Seven groups will share a total of £1,170 to be distributed by Oxenhope Parish Council, following last week’s participatory budgeting meeting.
It was the first time the council had operated this initiative, designed to allow parishioners more influence regarding issues that affect them.
Representatives from organisations that applied for funding staged individual presentations at last week’s meeting.
Four of the groups – Oxenhope Youth Club, Friends of Oxenhope School, Oxenhope Football Club and Oxenhope Social Club – then received the full sums of cash they had applied for.
Fibre Valley, Oxenhope Cricket Club and Oxenhope under-fives pre-school all received part-funding.
Parish council vice-chairman, Councillor Tony Maw, said: “I think it went very well.”
