STUDENTS from Oakbank School in Keighley took part in a walk at Embsay Moor.
About a dozen pupils navigated their way around the area, using map reading and compass skills.
All the young people, except one sixth former, were from year ten.
The four-mile walk was the first of many the youngsters will be tackling as part of their work towards the expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award.
Hannah Borkala, marketing and event officer at Oakbank, said: "The students all enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to future walks that will help them with their bronze award."
