WHAT have the Romans ever done for us?
Some of the questions were answered when pupils at Eastburn Junior & Infant School took part in an annual Romans Day.
The class-three children made a range of items including models, catapults, mosaics, food, Roman numeral clocks, pictures and costume accessories.
There was also singing and a highlight of the day was an afternoon banquet.
"Lying down to eat – just like real Romans – is always exciting!" said a spokesman.
"Many thanks go to the volunteers who came along to share their time and help on the day."
The event was based on an idea from the book The Roman Beanfeast, by Gillian Cross.
