THREE uniquely-talented solo acts will perform at the latest Blues and Roots Night in Haworth.

The Black Bull in Main Street will host the gig featuring Henry Parker, Martin Black and Keighley’s own Johnny B.

Henry, from Bingley, is rooted in the sound of 70s folk guitar and recalls musicians like John Renbourn, Dick Gaughan and Martin Simpson.

Henry’s performances incorporate traditional folk song, original instrumentals and solo arrangements, both traditional and modern.

Gig organiser Ben Blue Waters said the songs were bound together by Henry’s creative and distinctive finger-style approach, with a new influence of leading jazz players.

Martin Black, from Doncaster, touches on every subject and leaves no stone unturned in his search to become a working class hero.

Ben said: “Armed with streets of punk and the folkie hunger for revolution, he marries the two distinctive genres by trying to turn folk on its ear and punk to its knees with his sharp lyricism and upbeat melodies.”

In recent years Martin has supported Missing Andy, King Charles, The Men they Couldn't Hang, The Darlingtons, The Godfathers, Steve Craddock and Big Country.

Completing the line-up is Keighley singer-songwriter Johnny B, who regularly helps local musician organise gigs and charity events.

Ben said: “Johnny’s heartfelt emotional song delivered in his unique gruff vocal style have been winning over audiences in the Yorkshire area for several years.”

The music starts at 7.30pm, with host Ben playing a short set of footstomping blues.
