A CHARITY coffee morning at Oxenhope's Upwood Holiday Park almost turned into a "Great Bake Off" when over a hundred visitors turned up to enjoy drinks and home made cakes.
At more than a thousand feet above sea level this might have been one of the highest coffee mornings in aid of the Macmillan Trust.
But it did not put off visitors who were full of praise for the local women who produced a range of mouth watering goodies for the event. The occasion raised more than £500 for Macmillan.
Event organiser Karen Wade said: “I hadn’t realised how many talented bakers we had here at the park.
"It wasn’t really a competition but there was definitely rivalry in the air. Mary Berry had better look out – the Upwood Ladies are on their way!
“Despite poor weather, well over 100 people came along.
"The raffle and tombola were very popular, with great prizes donated by Ellisons Butchers of Cullingworth, and the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.
"Thanks also to the holiday park’s owner, Frank Towers, for allowing us to stage the event and being so supportive."
It is hoped to hold further charity events at the holiday park. People can call the park office on 01535 644242 for details.
