AN Education Question Time is being staged in Keighley.
General Election candidates have been invited by the National Union of Teachers (NUT) to take part in the debate, at Central Hall, Alice Street, on Tuesday (May 23), 7.30pm.
Ian Murch, for Bradford NUT, said: "The present Government has cut school funding in real terms by £2.2 billion a year since 2015.
"And between now and 2020, it wants to cut £3 billion more.
"Ninety-nine per cent of all schools will suffer funding cuts and schools in our area are particularly badly affected.
"I and my union colleagues attend meetings virtually every day in this area at which our schools are having to announce cuts to teachers and other staff."
He added: "We want there to be real public debate about the future of our children's education.
"That is why we invite parents, students and teachers to ask the Parliamentary candidates of the main parties what their vision is for the future of our children's education.
"Children only have one chance in life. We want whoever wins the next General Election to accept that it has to be a better one than they are currently being offered."
