A NEW web-chat service will help Keighley crime victims.
Specially-trained staff are available online weekdays, between 9am and 5pm, to offer support.
The pilot project, launched by the Victim Support charity, will run until March.
A £13,000 funding boost has been provided by West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Mark Burns-Williamson.
He said the service provided an extra avenue of support for victims, in addition to existing face-to-face and phone options.
"I am very pleased to be able to support this live chat service pilot," Mr Burns-Williamson added.
"Being a victim of crime can have a significant impact on a person's life, on their family and in their community, so accessing timely support in this way is vital.
"I want to encourage and support all organisations to identify innovative ways of supporting crime victims. This is another way of looking to ensure victims have access to direct emotional and practical support in line with modern, accessible and confidential services.
"People can also access support at our Help for Victims website, helpforvictims.co.uk."
Lesley McLean, for Victim Support, paid tribute to the PCC for his backing.
"I want to thank him for his support in ensuring victims of crime can access services with another option available to them," she said.
