THERE’S a silver lining to Parkside School’s teacher training.
The Cullingworth school last year gained a bronze award for its work with the Teacher Development Trust.
It recently underwent a rigorous self-analysis of its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provision to measure progress.
The audit covered a wide range of areas including culture and well-being, processes, structures of CPD, and research, innovation and evidence.
The audit showed that significant development has taken place within the school, and the Trust awarded Parkside silver status. This was the first such award in Bradford district.
Parkside deputy head Matt Barratt said: “The award is an absolutely fantastic achievement and reflects the continual hard work and commitment of all of the staff at Parkside school.
“A key development over the last 12 months has been the incorporation of lesson study into our CPD.”
Such a development has helped teachers use evidence-based research in devising strategies to improve students’ attainment.
