A WEEKLY quiz is helping answer Manorlands' need for funds.

Organisers of the popular event, at Haworth Old Hall Hotel, have handed over a £1,100 cheque.

In the past four years, the quiz – held at 9.30pm every Thursday – has coined-in nearly £6,000 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

Money is raised through entry fees and rollover questions, once prizes have been distributed.

David Whitehead, who runs the event, said: "It's wonderful that so many people come along to enjoy the quiz and that our local hospice can benefit too.

"It's always a pleasure to be able to donate to Manorlands and I'd like to say thank-you to everyone who contributes each week and makes it such a great evening."

Manorlands fundraiser Hayley Ibbotson, who received the cheque, pays tribute.

"I'd like to thank David for the time he spends each week preparing the questions and to everyone who takes part," she said.

"We're very grateful to the Old Hall for this gift and a special mention must also go to the Steve Wood Fan Club team, which regularly donates its prize-winnings to the hospice in addition to the fantastic overall donation.

"Every penny that has been donated helps the hospice to be there for local people who need us.

"It costs £9,000 a day to run all our care services, so this is a vital contribution and means a great deal to us and those who are able to benefit from our support as a result."
