WILSDEN parish councillors were given an insight into the workings of local police when they were visited by local officers.
Inspector Julie Deacon led a posse of officers who gave a report on the latest crime figures for the village and answered questions from councillors and residents.
Topics included Speed Watch, Neighbourhood Watch, increases in Neighbourhood Police Officers, organised crime and carjacking, the use of Automated Number Plate Recognition, and outside criminals travelling to Wilsden to rob houses.
Officers were also asked how police priorities were affected by crime, and the short-term effect on Neighbourhood Policing levels if there was a serious crime in the area.
Residents and councillors were told not believe everything that is on Facebook about local crime and policing.
The officers encouraged residents to report any concerns by calling the 101, by visiting the Shipley page at the westyorkshire.police.uk website, or by visiting facebook.com/WYPShipley, or in person at the Wilsden Village Hall contact point.
The police were sure that all the reports were noted and fed into the police’s intelligence gathering systems.
