VISITORS to a historic National Trust property are being invited to roll-up their sleeves and help clear an invasive plant.
Staff at East Riddlesden Hall are asking the public to join them on the remaining Saturdays this month to help pull-up Himalayan balsam.
The sessions run from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Nick Chuck, ranger at the 17th-century hall, said: "Himalayan balsam speeds-up the erosion of riverbanks and prevents traditional wildflowers from growing, so it's important for us to keep it under control.
"It's easily pulled-up by hand, making it a great family activity.
"As a conservation charity we're grateful for any help and recommend that people wear long-sleeved tops and long trousers, and come in sturdy footwear.
"Also, gloves are recommended, but we can provide these if needed."
The hall is also hosting tours of the Culpeper-inspired herb border between 1pm and 2pm on Mondays. There is a £2 per person charge.
And people can learn about wildlife-friendly gardening techniques between 2.30pm and 3.30pm every Tuesday.
