A RING donated by a Keighley jeweller has raised £2,500 in a charity auction.
Liam McQuaid, of Raffles in the Airedale Shopping Centre, gave the 18-carat white gold three-stone diamond ring to be sold at the annual Martin House Children's Hospice glitter ball.
The event, at Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate, coined-in over £87,000.
Mr McQuaid and his wife Anna began raising money for the Boston Spa hospice after their son, Niall, died there – aged just seven weeks – in 2006.
The total raised so far is £34,500.
"I'm delighted with that figure," said Mr McQuaid.
"When we started fundraising, I never imagined we would reach that sort of amount."
Anyone wishing to help raise funds can contact Mrs McQuaid, of the Martin House Otley-area Friends, on 07535 884256, or Pam Ravenscroft – for the Ilkley Friends – on 01943 817773.
Both groups welcome new volunteers.
