A SENSATIONAL band is due to play Keighley Blues Live this month as the club begins its autumn season at the Octagon.

World-renowned bluesman Paul Jones made the declaration about Mike Vernon & The Mighty Combo, who will play the Bradford Road, Sandbeds, venue on September 28.

For many years Mike has been producing records by the greatest names in blues and rock, including Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, Muddy Waters, Fleetwood Mac, Dr Feelgood and Level 42.

A club spokesman said: “Now the gamekeeper has turned poacher and the impossibly youthful septuagenarian will bring his stellar band to KBL.

“And what a band it is - locked-in by the rock-solid rhythm section of Ian Jennings on double bass and Mike Hellier on drums, the front-line players of saxist Paul Tasker, keyboard player Matt Little and the hugely-impressive guitarist 'Kid' Carlos Moreno.”

Mike said: “"Our aim is to put a smile on your face and then leave you totally sated but still wanting more! We are ready, willing and able to rock the joint... and roll the blues!"
