A DAY of baked food, refreshments and games arranged by a family in Oxenhope has so far raised at least £750 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Jane Barrett, with the help of her family, friends and supporter staged the "Big Barrett Bake Bash" at her home on September 22 as part of the Macmillan World's Biggest Coffee Morning initiative.
Mrs Barrett, whose husband has cancer, said: "It was an open house event, rather than a coffee morning, and this was the second year we've done it.
"We had about 60 people visit over the course of the day. It was an amazing day and quite emotional as everyone was so generous with their time and money. That was very humbling to see."
Mrs Barrett's mother-in-law, Margaret Barrett, who also baked some of treats on offer at the occasion, said: "It was a family, friends and neighbours affair and it seemed like everyone who came brought a cake with them.
"People worked so hard to support us, and I think the total raised is a fabulous achievement."
She added one of the larger, more elaborate cakes made for the event was auctioned off at Keighley Rugby Club for £50.
Her own daughter took left over cakes from the gathering to her workplace – Carnaud Metal Box Engineering, in Shipley – which raised a further £53. Both these sums went towards the final fundraising total.
