AN evening of Halloween pumpkin decorating which was a big hit in Haworth last year proved even more popular in 2018.

About 40 youngsters and adults attended the latest Halloween event in West Lane Baptist Church – which was three times as many as last year.

Between 25 and 30 pumpkins were carefully carved or painted, with organiser Reverend Chris Upton praising the brilliant quality of the work.

"It was a family event with parents, grandparents and children coming along," he added. "It was 'bring your own pumpkin', with a lot of people arriving in fancy dress as they'd been out trick or treating.

"People took their own pumpkins home with them afterwards.

"The standard of the carving and painting was first class, with people choosing all kinds of themes including Stormtroopers, ghosts and witches.

"Also during the evening we had 'pin the spider on the web', apple bobbing, and servings of autumn soup, toast, tea and coffee.

"It was just a really nice, fun Halloween gathering. We still have space available to accommodate even more people, so we're looking forward to doing this again next year."
