PEOPLE in Keighley can today (Nov 13) find out about the role of the Environment Agency and how to comment on a permit application for a planned waste to energy incinerator for the town.

A public drop-in session today will be held between 2pm and 8pm at Victoria Hall, Keighley.

The company Endless Energy Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for the relevant permit to operate a waste incinerator at the former Old Gas Works site next to the Aire Valley Bypass.

The company wants to build the facility to treat and dispose of commercial waste from businesses across the region, but its plans have provoked fierce opposition from local people who warn the facility will harm the environment and put people's health at risk.

The Environment Agency is seeking views from the community and interested groups on the application. The public consultation runs until December 13 2018.

Application documents are available to view online at consult.environment-agency.gov.uk/psc/bd21-4lw-endless-energy-limited/.

The application is also available to view at the Environment Agency’s offices at Lateral, 8 City Walk, Leeds, LS11 9AT.

To access it this way, people would need to call the Environment Agency's customer contact centre on 03708 506 506 to arrange an appointment between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday to view the register.
