A HAWORTH First World War roll of honour has been dedicated after finding a new home.

The roll of honour, originally displayed at Woodlands Lodge branch of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows Friendly Society, mentions 83 members who served in the war, including 10 who died.

The memorial had to be moved when the lodge was converted to housing, and nearby Wyedean Weaving answered an appeal from military history group Men of Worth Project. The Rev Reverend Peter Mullins lead this month’s dedication ceremony, attended by local people and civic dignitaries.

Men of Worth founder Andy Wade said: “He gave a wonderful address. He said that most of the men on the roll of honour would have worked in the textile mills and that it was fitting that the last working textile mill in Haworth was taking on the care of the memorial. He also spoke about Albert Victor Hands,, one of those who had died, and said his front door on Ivy Bank Lane looked over Bridgehouse Mill where the roll of honour is today.”
