KEIGHLEY people are to be judged on who has created the best Christmas light display at their houses and gardens.

Passengers on a special bus trip will vote for the best individual displays and even give an award for the best street of festive lights.

The unofficial competition will be held by the Red Bus Days company which every year runs a trip taking people around the town and surrounding villages looking at Christmas displays.

The journey, entitled In Search of Christmas Sparkle, includes a visit to a display in East Morton each year in aid of Manorlands.

Chris Matthews, proprietor of the Red Box, said: “For the past four years we have taken people on a tour of the fantastic lights people put up in the run-up to Christmas.

“We feel we are qualified to judge them, and we think we will have one category for whole street contributions where a few houses get together, best display for a charity, and best individual garden display.

“Unless specifically invited to get out and look, we view all from a minibus. We would love people to tell us they are decorating-up in a big way this year, and we will put them on the map of ones we will visit.”

Mr Matthews is inviting people to join the bus tour on either December 20 or 22, to help judge the entrants.
