AN 83-YEAR-old woman who climbs a Scottish mountain is the subject of the latest Keighley Film Club presentation.
Edie stars Sheila Hancock as a woman who was encouraged to her father to follow her dreams, but ended up with a traditional husband who controlled her.
Following her husband’s death, Edie finally feels able to follow her destiny and sets off to climb Suilven in the Highlands.
Despite Edie’s daughter wanting to put her in a retirement home, she hitchhikes across Scotland and enlists a young outdoor expert to help her on the climb.
Club spokesman Alan Watkinson said: "This film will strike a chord with anyone who has had to sacrifice themselves or put their own life on hold while caring for others.
“Sweeping panoramic views of the isolated Scottish Highlands highlight the human frailty of outdoor activities against nature’s challenges.”
Edie, certificate 12a, will be screened at Keighley Picture House, North Street, on Sunday December 16 at 6pm. The film is open to the public.
