A COMMUNITY library has opened a new chapter in charity fundraising.
A series of events during the past year at the Denholme premises has raised £300.
Activities included book sales, raffles and coffee mornings.
A cheque has been presented by Annette Bell and Cath McCafferty, from the library, to Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands.
Hayley Ibbotson, senior community fundraiser at Manorlands, said: "We're extremely grateful to everyone at the library for this donation, which is enough to pay for five bereavement counselling sessions for someone struggling to cope with the loss of a loved one.
"Without the support of groups like the library thinking of the hospice to benefit from their fundraising, we just wouldn't be able to continue providing care when it matters the most. It really does mean the world to us."
The library – which is based within the Mechanics' Institute – is open from 10am to noon Mondays and Saturdays, and between 10am and noon and 2pm and 4pm on Thursdays.
