MARIE Curie nurses, staff and campaigners thanked all volunteers in Keighley who gave up their time this Christmas to support people living with a terminal illness.

Members of the Keighley based fundraising group raised more than £650 over Christmas through their fairs and by collecting at Sainsburys Supermarket.

A charity spokesman said: “Every penny raised will help the Marie Curie nursing service in Keighley provide care and emotional support to people living with a terminal illness, as well as funding our information and support service which was accessed over 70,000 times last Christmas.”

Marie Curie community fundraiser Aanika Dhillon said: “Christmas is all about spending time with the people that matter to us.

“We’re so grateful that groups of friend and families chose to spend two hours of their time over the festive period volunteering for Marie Curie.

“The contributions of our amazing volunteers who braved the cold in fancy dress, or generous shoppers who donated, will help us reach more people living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones.

“Our volunteers and supporters across Keighley really are the best.”
