MORE than 100 tickets were issued to motorists in Keighley over December as part of an ongoing police crackdown against dangerous and irresponsible driving.
The December 2018 figures for West Yorkshire Police's Operation Steerside in Keighley have been released.
They show officers gave out a total of 118 tickets to drivers in Keighley during the month.
In the same period eighty people were penalised for failing to wear a seatbelt, with action taken against a further seven for use of a mobile phone at the wheel.
The police detected three vehicles being driven without MOT, seized a dozen vehicles which were not insured, made two arrests and prosecuted another six people for registration and vehicle lights offences.
Eighty people were breathalysed with two found to be driving over the alcohol limit.
Officers issued nine section 59 antisocial behaviour warnings as part of Steerside in Keighley over December.
Last year Keighley Town Council voted to support Steerside in the town with a grant of £10,000, matching funds provided for the operation with money seized from criminals under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
