A HOUSEBUILDER has displayed its 'green' credentials.
Barratt Developments Yorkshire West says it has planted or retained more than 6,000 trees and shrubs on its construction sites in the past year, almost double the figure for 2017.
And the company, which has the Vision scheme in Keighley, adds it has created 14.7 hectares of green space – equivalent to 24 football pitches – across the region to help support wildlife.
During the year, the division built 699 new homes, recycled 98 per cent of its construction waste and gave out £6.6 million in community contributions.
Managing director, Ian Ruthven, said: "Sustainable building and supporting communities is at the heart of everything we do.
"We actively seek to develop and incorporate environmentally-friendly practices and work closely with the RSPB.
"During 2018 alone, we also supported directly and indirectly 1,600 jobs through our work, with 590 sub-contractor companies and a further 380 supplier companies used."
