A new initiative has been launched in Oakworth to highlight and respond to concerns over littering and dog fouling.

The Keep Oakworth Tidy project has been started by Cllr Luke Maunsell, one of the Oakworth ward councillors on Keighley Town Council.

The scheme will see an information leaflet being distributed to 2,000 households and the installation of six free dog bag dispensers in dog fouling hotspots.

Cllr Maunsell said: “In my recent community survey, dog fouling and littering were top issues for local people.

“I decided to do what I could to try to take on the problem. The leaflet I’ve created gives people information about how they can do their bit to keep the village tidy, while the dog bag dispensers will help encourage people to clean up after their dogs.

“Hopefully this will help people really think about littering and enable them to keep Oakworth a wonderful place to live.

“I hope this supports the amazing work already done by residents through Operation Oakworth clean-ups, and look forward to building on this work in future.”
