YOUNG people in Keighley will be given an insight into the way Parliament operates.

A session entitled Get Heard in the UK Parliament will be held at Keighley College on March 5 from 6pm.

In addition the college will host ‘Empower’ workshops for adults with learning disabilities on March 6 at 10.30am and 1pm.

Keighley Big Local teamed up with the Houses of Parliament Outreach Service to organise the workshops.

In addition, the Empower workshops involved input from Keighley and Craven People First – a support charity for people with learning disabilities – and the college’s Foundation students.

Big Local coordinator Shaun O’Hare said: “Get Heard in the UK Parliament helps young people discover what Parliament is, how it is relevant to them, and how they can get involved and be active citizens.

“They can find out how to take action make an impact on decisions made in Parliament, and discover ways to influence debates, decisions and legislation.”

The March 5 session will be a two-hour interactive workshop with a quiz, discussions and action-planning.
