A STUDENT of Parkside School in Cullingworth cut a dash in a national athletics competition.

Morgan Corcoran came second in the 60-metre sprint at the England Athletics Indoor Age Group Championships at Sheffield.

Year nine student Morgan, who attends Bingley Harriers and Athletics Club, achieved the time of 7.31 seconds in the under-15s race.

He won both the qualifier and semi-finals and went on to win silver overall, gaining three personal bests during the weekend.

Ben Miller, Parkside’s deputy head of PE, said: “Morgan had a fantastic weekend in Sheffield and now has these to add to his Northern Championship winning medals.

“What a great achievement as he has only trained in running for approximately 10 months.”

In the under-15s sprint, Reece Earle from Thames Valley Harriers won the gold, with Morgan beating Hercules Wimbledon’s Freddie Arkell into third by 100th of a second.
