POTENTIAL leaders could get a helping hand from Keighley Rotary Club.

The group is sponsoring a candidate on a Rotary youth leadership course and is inviting applications.

Two courses are planned, near Hebden Bridge.

The first is from Saturday, July 27, to Friday, August 2.

And the second takes place between Saturday, August 3 and Friday, August 9.

Sessions feature a mixture of physical and mental challenges covering leadership, team building, communication and problem-solving skills.

Activities are staged both outdoors and inside, and there are guest speakers, self and peer assessment and one-to-one feedback from a mentor.

Anyone aged 16 or 17 can apply.

A Rotary spokesman said: “Although based largely on an outdoor environment, potential candidates should please note that this is not an ‘outward bound’ course.

“It is tough and demanding, requiring 100 per cent effort and commitment, but extremely rewarding.”
