A KEIGHLEY tattoo parlour is offering special cancer ribbon tattoos to raise money for Manorlands.

Mandala Tattoo Studio’s artists have created four new designs which they will put onto customers’ skin on May 11.

All the money from each customer will go entirely to the Oxenhope hospice as part of Mandala’s fundraising day at its Cavendish Court studio.

Salon owners Jane and Keith Towler have organised the day as a spin-off to the annual Manorfest music festival, after speaking with their friend, Manorfest organiser Wayne Jackson.

Jane said: “A few years ago I lost my mum to ovarian cancer so we thought it would be a good cause and we can do our bit.”

All the studio’s tattoo artists will be working on the Manorlands day.

Jane said there would be different designs available on the day at various prices, some with swear words on them and others that were family-friendly.

She added: “We expect it to be a walk-in event rather than taking bookings because we think it will be so busy.”

As well as tattoos there will be a chance to have body piercing with the price including a £5 donation to Manorlands.

Regular customers and friends will be making cakes, and there will be a raffle with a voucher for a tattoo. Abstract Silver Tattoo and Piercing Supplies are sponsoring the tattoos.

Keith is a tattoo artist while Jane handles the business side of Mandala.

She said: “We have been open in Keighley for six years and have numerous artists offering various tattoo styles.

“We also offer body piercing, laser treatments and fat freezing, covering many body modification procedures.”

The couple set up in Keighley after Keith had run a tattoo studio in Haworth for several years.

“When we opened the studio in Keighley it was just Keith, now we have six tattoo artists working for us. I think tattoos are a bit more socially acceptable now. The fact we have six artists just shows how it’s grown.”

Manorfest, a feast of heavy-metal music, will be at Victoria Hall in Keighley on May 13 from 3pm to 11pm. This year’s line-up includes Orange Goblin, Phil Campbell’s band, Memoriam, Hollow Earth, Ironbat, Sellsword, Sometime the Wolf, Slowtorch and Alunah.

Manorfest made its debut in 2017, with Swedish rockers Grand Magus headlining.

The festival came from DioFest, a Keighley music event held in 2014 and 2015 to honour internationally-renowned musician Ronnie James Dio on the anniversary of his death.

Each event raised £4,000, with tickets selling out and a long waiting list of bands eager to take part.

Organisers moved the event to Victoria Hall, to recruit bigger bands.

Visit manorfest.bigcartel.com to book tickets, which cost £30 each.
