KATIE Mulgrew, Kerian Boyd and Matt Richardson will be raising the roof with laughter in Glusburn.

The three stand-up comics are performing at the village’s Community and Arts Centre on Saturday May 18.

Katie Mulgrew is a stand-up comedian, writer and soup enthusiast, who “travels all over the country to amuse mainly strangers in comedy clubs but also occasionally strangers in petrol stations”.

Katie has written and performed two Edinburgh Festival solo stand-up comedy shows, one about her dad and one about Disney.

Kerian Boyd was a finalist in So You Think You’re Funny? (2009) and Amused Moose Laugh-Off (2010), and was part of Edinburgh Fringe favourites WitTank.

The spokesman said: “Kieran has been performing his inventive, high-energy stand up across the country for five years. He gigs for Avalon, CKP, The Stand, Komedia, and Highlight amongst others as well as numerous shows at the Edinburgh Festival.”

Multi-award-winning comedian Matt Richardson is described as one of the most exciting names in stand-up.

A spokesman said: “He’s hitting the circuit with some fast-paced, high-octane stand-up, delivered with his usual inimitable style.”

The audience is told to expect what has been called high-wattage charisma and “hilarious and charming”.

Richardson is a host of Virgin Radio’s drive-time show, The Xtra Factor, Just Tattoo of Us, The Aftermath, and Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live.

Desperado: Heart of the Eagles, a tribute to the legendary American band, will perform at Glusburn Institute on November 16.

The band are returning with a two-hour re-creation of the Eagles’ country-rock with harmonies, playing good humoured homage to all the favourite tracks.
