I WAS browsing through the Keighley News of May 2 and came across the Walk page, which tells me that Whernside is the highest mountain in Yorkshire. It isn't.
The so-called 'county top' of Yorkshire is at Mickle Fell in the North Riding.
This point may have been under the administrative remit of a council calling itself Durham since 1974 but councils do not make counties.
Yorkshire's true boundaries remain unchanged and Mickle Fell remains the highest point in Yorkshire.
As Yorkshire's finest newspaper, which I still read despite being away from home for 26 years, I thought the Keighley News might like to know that.
