OAKWORTH social group The Shed have appointed their own committee so they can run events themselves.

The Shed was originally set up by Keighley Healthy Living and local councillors with a view to members taking over once the group became established.

Rowena Garton, from Keighley Healthy Living, said villagers in Oakworth had been quick to embrace the idea of The Shed.

She said: “The group goes from strength to strength with its vibrant combination of knitting, crocheting, handicrafts and a range of woodworking activities.”

Projects during May included building hedgehog houses to put in Dockroyd graveyard, and making wooden planters for flowers and herbs. Shed members also enjoyed painting artwork for the Tour de Yorkshire.

Anyone who wants to share a skill, learn something new or simply pop in for a cuppa and a chat, should go to The Shed on Friday mornings between 10am and noon at Oakworth Village Hall.
