THE GREATEST Showman and his acts could be seen at this year’s Lees Cum Cross Roads Village Gala on Saturday July 13.

Children from Lees Primary School have adopted the theme of ‘circus’ for the gala and have also designed the event’s programme.

Gala king and queen Oliver Battle and Tabby Atkinson and their eight attendants, chosen by the schoolchildren, will lead the procession.

The procession will set off at 1pm from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Halifax Road at Bocking, and parade to the gala field behind Lees Primary School off Vale Mill Lane.

Playing for the gala will be the Revolution Brass Band, who are mainly made up of the younger generation, from Queensbury.

Gala spokesman Bev Underwood said: “We have approached local businesses for sponsorship and donations to help us run the tombola stall and have a raffle.

“We also have a burger/hot dog stall, bar and ice cream. Local charities I’ve been invited to have their own stalls.

“The Village Association will be having our own stalls and the local Scouts will be having their usual puppet show.”

Proceeds will go towards next year’s gala, the Christmas lights, and other village events.
