AN Eastburn veteran was among those who took part in a poignant commemorative service today.
Burma Star recipient Dennis Maunders, 95, was present at an event in Skipton to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
Mr Maunders served with the 1st Battalion Yorkshire Regiment in Burma during the Second World War.
He said the moving service had brought back memories of those comrades who didn't return home.
“It reminded us of the lads in Burma who were lost," he added.
"It's an honour to be here.”
Scores of onlookers joined ex-servicemen and women for the service at the war memorial in the town’s High Street.
A service is also taking place in Keighley, this evening, to mark the anniversary.
The commemoration, at the town's war memorial at 6.30pm, is being led by the Rev Dr Jonathan Pritchard.
